Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad begins its journey from the village of Elbe, WA which was once a thriving lumbering town. The trains newly built Depot and Gift Shop stand on the site of the original Tacoma Eastern Depot, built in April 1904. This is home to one the most unique collection of logging locomotives in the world. Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad owns four examples of geared locomotives from each of the four major builders of this type and three examples of rod-type.
